"I note that in 2020, in a difficult year, not an easy one, the state defense order was fulfilled by 96.2%," Putin said. - Moreover, such a high bar has been held for more than five years." The President recalled that in 2012 this figure was only a little over 80 percent. "And that was considered good," the head of state noted, stressing that the current high bar "has been maintained for more than five years."
"The State Armaments Program, as one of the most significant strategic planning documents, plays a special role in ensuring the defense and security of Russia. Among its priorities are the definition and fulfillment of the tasks of the state defense order, accelerated introduction of scientific and technical achievements into mass production and, of course, the development of promising models of weapons," the president noted.
Putin stressed that the defense industry enterprises are working steadily, despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic. "Even in conditions of serious restrictions associated with the coronavirus epidemic, defense industry organizations work stably, do not allow any disruptions or delays in supplies," he drew attention.
As a result, according to him, the share of modern weapons and equipment in strategic nuclear forces exceeds 80%, and in general-purpose forces reaches more than 70%. "The troops receive the latest models of weapons, which are not inferior in their tactical and technical characteristics, and in a number of parameters are much superior to foreign analogues," the president said. Among those, he named the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, the Prince Vladimir nuclear missile carrier, and the S-500 air defense system.
Putin recalled that during the next series of meetings on defense issues, which took place last week in Sochi, tasks related to the re-equipment of the army and navy were discussed. He added that as part of the work of the military-industrial complex, it is necessary to consider the main results of the implementation of the state armament program, as well as to identify approaches to the formation of a new state armament program for 2024-2033.
