The Russian Defense Ministry has tested an improved version of the S-300V4, equipped with new missiles. Among other things, they worked out the interception of hypersonic blocks.
The tests were carried out at the Kapustin Yar landfill. The military has worked out launches of improved ammunition for the S-300V4 anti-aircraft missile system. The complexes were also modified so that they could fight more effectively, in particular, with hypersonic weapons. The test results were recognized as successful.
The S-300V4 itself became the development of the famous "three hundred". It was adopted by land air defenses in 2014. The system can simultaneously fire at 24 aerodynamic targets: for example, inconspicuous aircraft. The range of destruction is 400 kilometers at an altitude of up to 35 kilometers. In 2016, the S-300V4 division was transferred to Syria.
The basic version of the S-300 was adopted in 1978. A further development of the system was the S-400 air defense system, adopted in 2007.
Countering hypersonic weapons is becoming more relevant every year, as the most powerful countries are actively working on new air, sea and land-based missiles. Recall that recently the United States successfully tested a new HAWC hypersonic complex.
