The crews of the Russian submarines Rostov-on-Don and Veliky Novgorod of the Varshavyanka project worked out the launch of Kalibr-PL missiles during the exercises. Conditional defeat of surface targets was made after the entry of the US Navy destroyer USS Porter (DDG-78) into the Black Sea. This is reported by Interfax with reference to the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet) of Russia.
The message of the Black Sea Fleet noted that the submarines carried out electronic missile launches after an urgent dive. A conditional strike on targets was inflicted from an underwater position. A group of missile ships of the Black Sea Fleet played the role of targets.
"According to the plan of the exercise, submarines performing planned combat training tasks at sea received an order to destroy detected and classified naval targets," the Black Sea Fleet noted.
The exercises of the Black Sea Fleet took place after the entry of the American destroyer into the Black Sea. The transition of the Arleigh Burke-class missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG-78) began on October 30. The Sixth Operational Fleet of the US Navy announced this on Twitter.
The Rostov-on-Don and Veliky Novgorod submarines were built according to the 636.3 Varshavyanka project. Earlier, the Polish edition of Defence24 noted the demand for "Varshavianok" on the international market.
In September, Andrey Baranov, Deputy General Director of the Central Design Bureau of Marine Technology (CCB MT) Rubin, spoke about the design features of submarines of the 636 project.
