An upgraded T-90M tank was demonstrated at the Army-2021 forum in August. A car with an over-the-horizon vision system was evaluated in the USA. The National Interest magazine noted the export prospects of the Russian tank.
In September, a TASS source in the military-industrial complex reported on the preparation of tests of the upgraded T-90M tank. According to him, the tank received an additional set of optical-electronic system. The upgraded car was demonstrated at the Army-2021 forum.
Later, the representative of the Ministry of Defense added that the tank was equipped with a thermal imaging surveillance device on a mast device. This will allow the crew of the T-90M to conduct surveillance from cover. The target recognition distance of the "tank" type is 8 kilometers.
The National Interest notes that the new T-90M will not only replenish the Russian arsenal, but will also interest foreign customers. The tank received a new fire control system "Kalina", modern dynamic protection "Relict" and a new tower.
The author of the material suggested that the new modifications of the T-90 will be able to compete with Chinese tanks. In August, Rosoboronexport (part of Rostec State Corporation) announced the development of a lightweight version of the T-90 for export markets. A promising machine will be able to occupy the niche of the VT5 light tank.
In September, the Zvezda TV channel published a video of tests of the Relict dynamic protection. Experts checked the probability of triggering the protection unit against a bullet from a 12.7-by-108-millimeter cartridge.
