New landing boats will be built in Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense has decided to develop a hovercraft. The promising ship will be able to deliver troops by water, land, swamps and ice. This is reported by Izvestia with reference to sources in the defense department.
According to the interlocutor, it is planned to create a series of hovercraft. The carrying capacity of landing boats can be 60-70 tons. This will make it possible to transport operational and tactical complexes, armored vehicles and coastal anti-ship complexes at high speed.
Military expert Viktor Murakhovsky said that hovercrafts are necessary for landing troops in places where engineering barriers are exposed. He stressed that landing craft can provide a sudden transfer of troops to shore.
The authors of the material note that hovercrafts have an additional advantage. When moving, such vessels raise a cloud of spray, which reduces the visibility of the ship by enemy radar stations.
Such vessels move above the surface due to the excessive pressure that is injected under the bottom. This causes a high speed of movement over water and hard surfaces.
In April, the ships of the Black Sea Fleet conducted artillery firing as part of the exercises. Several vessels, including the SAMUM hovercraft, were involved in single and joint firing at surface and air targets.
