TYUMEN, September 15. /TASS/. Russia plans to maintain its leadership in the field of hypersonic and innovative weapons systems. This was stated on Wednesday to journalists at the Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum (TNF 2021) by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov.
"For many years we have been trying to keep up with or catch up with the leading weapons developments of Western countries and for the first time in all this time we have made progress in the field of creating hypersonic weapons, in the field of creating weapons based on new physical principles that use new types of engines for their operation - compact low-power nuclear installations. Now we have a serious advantage in this regard over the leading Western countries, we will try to maintain this advantage, " Borisov said.
According to him, the latest Russian weapons systems fully comply with global trends. "Moreover, it [weapons] corresponds to the main trends in the development of weapons and military equipment, which are on the way to the use of high - precision weapons, unmanned systems and robotics," Borisov added.
The Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum is being held at the West Siberian Innovation Center in Tyumen from September 14 to 16.
