Russia will create a new generation fighter Checkmate with the involvement of its own funds. Foreign investment will not play a significant role. However, the agency does not exclude the participation of foreign investors in the project. In particular, we can talk about the development of a two-seat aircraft.
Checkmate is primarily focused on export. On the other hand, it is also possible to adopt the aircraft for the Russian Aerospace Forces as an addition to the heavier Su-57 of the fifth generation. The Checkmate program will differ in a lower cost — both the machine itself and its operation.
The new aircraft was officially presented in July at the MAKS air Show (the first pictures were posted online earlier). As stated by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, Russia already has a preliminary customer.

The car is created according to the popular modular principle. The electronic "stuffing" and the composition of weapons can be changed depending on the customer's requirements.
The aircraft has one engine. The design shows signs of stealth technology. The maximum afterburner speed of the Checkmate is M=1.8. The maximum operational overload is 8 G.
The combat load of the aircraft is 7400 kilograms. In the internal compartments, it can carry up to five air — to-air missiles. If we talk about air — to-surface weapons, Checkmate is capable of using K029BE, KAB-500, K08BE (UPAB-500B-E), KAB-250 and KAB-250LG-E bombs, as well as X-38, X-59MK2, X-58USHK(E), Grom-E1 and Grom-E2 missiles. A modern radar with an active phased array allows the novelty to attack up to six targets simultaneously.
Recall that the dates for the start of production of the modernized Su-57 have recently become known. Among other things, it will be provided with a completely updated cabin. Another important innovation is the power plant of the second stage.
The improved car will be a single-seater. At the same time, Russia wants to create another version of the fighter — a two-seater. It will be used to control the UAV.
