The US Navy has lost one of its helicopters. According to the press service of the 3rd Fleet of the US Navy, yesterday, on August 31, a multi-purpose helicopter MH-60S Knighthawk with six servicemen on board crashed off the coast of California. The incident occurred at 16: 30 local time (at 2: 30 on September 1, Moscow time).
"The MH-60S helicopter, based on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), crashed at sea during a routine flight about 60 nautical miles off the coast of San Diego," the department said.

A search and rescue operation has been organized in the crash area with the participation of several air and surface assets of the Coast Guard and the US Navy. According to the representative of the 3rd Fleet of the US Navy, Samuel Boyle, one of the sailors was lifted out of the water, the search for the rest continues.
The MH-60S Knighthawk is a modification of the SH-60 Seahawk helicopter developed for the US Navy. In total, the American fleet is armed with more than 500 vehicles of this type.
