Moscow. August 26. INTERFAX-The Russian military conducted special exercises to practice the actions of logistics support units (MTO) in the course of repelling conditional aggression in the western and Arctic theaters of military operations.
"The MTO units have worked out the use of forces and means of material and technical support during the period of direct preparation and repelling aggression in the western and Arctic theaters of military operations," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
It says that the exercises were held in the Murmansk region, the tasks of material and technical support in the main points of basing of troops were worked out.
"In the course of practical actions for the airfield support of naval aviation of the Navy, 37 aircraft of all types were involved at the Severomorsk-1 airfield, which carried out about 50 sorties," the report says.
In Severomorsk, the main base of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation, the military practiced loading missile weapons and torpedoes on ships and submarines, refueling ships on the roadstead, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"The technical intelligence group and the repair and evacuation group worked out the issues of deploying a collection point for damaged fleet vehicles. The Center for Integrated Security has organized anti-sabotage defense of fleet bases, " the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.
"As part of the comprehensive support of the fleet forces, tasks were solved at the maneuver-based point to replenish stocks of weapons, ammunition, military-technical equipment, food, fuel and lubricants," the report says.
As reported, on September 10-16, Russia and Belarus are planning to hold a strategic exercise "West-2021", the maneuvers will be held on the territory of the two countries.
These exercises do not envisage specific countries as an enemy, First Deputy head of the main Department of international military cooperation of the Russian Defense Ministry Yevgeny Ilyin said on August 20.
