The Almaz-Antey concern has started mass production of missiles for the Russian S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMS), TASS reports, citing a source in the military-industrial complex.
"In accordance with the contract signed at the end of 2020 between the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Almaz-Antey concern, production of serial missiles is underway, which will be delivered to the Aerospace Forces (VKS) in 2022, "the source said.
In July , TASS, citing a source in the military-industrial complex, reported that Russia will receive more than ten S-500 Prometheus air defense systems, whose deliveries will begin in 2022.
In June, The National Interest magazine wrote that the promising American strategic stealth bomber B-21 Raider will be invulnerable to this air defense system.
In May, the same publication stated that the S-500 Prometheus is capable of destroying American fifth-generation F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II fighters.
