The British media broadcast speculation when they write about the Russian Borey-class submarines submerged 500 m into the Atlantic. This opinion was expressed on Monday, August 2, by Admiral-submariner ex-commander of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation Vladimir Valuev.
Thus, he commented on the report of the British newspaper The Sun that Russian submarines in the Atlantic Ocean sank to a depth of more than 500 m. The publication noted that the maneuvers of submarines cause concerns among the British military.
"I think this is speculation. I do not know such devices, which could be used to check the depth of the dive. The British are coming up with something," Valuev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
At the same time, the admiral did not rule out that the Boreas can really dive to such a depth. However, according to Valuev, we can talk about testing nuclear submarines (submarines).
He recalled that the Komsomolets submarine was built in the USSR, which could dive to depths of up to 1 km. In other words, where the torpedoes do not reach. If Russia now had such submarines, "it would be a classic, that is, they would be invulnerable," the admiral believes.
The British military has repeatedly announced plans to monitor the actions of Russian submarines.
At the same time, in March, readers of the Express publication ridiculed the material in which it was about the tracking of a Russian submarine by a British Navy ship in the English Channel. Some users pointed out that the British navy can't even stop fishermen who steal fish.
In turn, the British military personnel in the summer of 2020 actively monitored the Krasnodar submarine of the Varshavyanka class, which was heading towards St. Petersburg. Then it was noted that the foreign military lost the boat.
The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly noted that all Russian ships carry out cruises and actions in neutral waters in accordance with international law.
