Baykar Defense has published the concept of the MIUS jet drone, designed to equip the first Turkish aircraft carrier Anadolu.
It was planned to place F-35 shortened take-off and vertical landing fighters on the ship under construction. After the conflict with the United States over the purchase of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft systems, Ankara was denied the F-35. Baykar proposed to equip Anadolu with TB3 turboprop drones. The ship can accommodate up to 50 such devices in a deck modification and simultaneously control the flight of 10 of them.
The new development, MIUS will be able to fly at a speed of Mach 1.4 and carry about one and a half tons of payload, Baykar said. In particular, the drone will use air-to-air, air-to-surface missiles and cruise missiles. The drone is planned to be equipped with a turbojet engine of Ukrainian production, the first flight is scheduled for 2023.
