The Ministry of Defense and one of the enterprises of the United Shipbuilding Corporation signed a contract for the repair and modernization of the ground test training complex
MOSCOW, May 21. /TASS/. A contract was signed for the repair and modernization of the ground test training complex (aviation) NITKA in the Crimea - a complete ground-based analogue of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. This was reported to TASS by two sources in the military-industrial complex.
"A contract was signed between the Ministry of Defense and one of the enterprises of the United Shipbuilding Corporation for the repair and modernization of the NITKA complex in Saki, its cost is about 500 million rubles," he said.
According to another source, the issue of repairing the thread in Saki moved from the dead end after in December 2020, the Commander-in-chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, held a meeting to discuss the training of pilots of carrier-based aviation. In particular, proposals were considered to speed up the withdrawal from the repair of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov and to ensure the use of the NITKA complex in Saki for the training of flight personnel.
According to official statements, the heavy aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov of the Fleet of the Soviet Union" should go on trial in 2022.
Before flying from an aircraft carrier, pilots of carrier-based aircraft must obtain access to them according to existing regulations. For their preparation, two NITKA complexes can be used in Saki and in Yeisk. It is known about the first one that it needs modernization, and about the second one that its commissioning is planned for 2023.
NITKA complexes are designed for testing the take-off and landing of ship-based aircraft. The complex in Saki is an airfield with a steel airfield in the form of a ship's deck, equipped with a springboard and aerial finishers. The dimensions of the airfield are equivalent to the flight deck of the Admiral Kuznetsov.
