TSAMTO, May 20. The Mi-8AMT and Mi-8MTV-1 transport helicopters will receive new ballistic protection, Igor Kiyamov, Managing Director of the Novosibirsk Aircraft Repair Plant (NARZ, part of the Russian Helicopters holding and will carry out these works), said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"A bulletin has been issued for the installation of ballistic protection for the crew cabin and cargo cabin on the Mi-8AMT and Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters. At the stage of registration, there is a bulletin on the installation of a Centrisep dust protection device of the QB0977/QB0978 modular type on the Mi-8MTV-1 helicopter, " he said.
I. Kiyamov noted that the NARZ team develops these helicopter modernization projects independently in the design bureau that has recently opened at the plant. "The certificate of the developer of aviation equipment issued by NARZ gives the right to develop design documentation and issue bulletins for minor changes to the standard design of Mi-8 helicopters. That is, we have the opportunity to quickly perform modifications of helicopter equipment in accordance with the wishes of the customer, including in the process of performing major repairs," the agency's interlocutor explained.
According to the director of NARZ, in the future, the Novosibirsk plant will be able to carry out a deeper modernization of equipment. In addition, its facilities, in addition to the Mi-8 and Mi-26 family helicopters, will be able to upgrade other models, including the Ansat.
NARZ carries out maintenance, major repairs and modernization of various modifications of Mi helicopters (Mi-8T, Mi-8MT, Mi-8MTV-1, Mi-8AMT, Mi-171, Mi-172, Mi-17V-5, Mi-26T). The company provides maintenance and repair of helicopter systems and units throughout the entire repair life, as well as provides users with spare parts. In addition, the Novosibirsk plant creates service centers for the maintenance and repair of Mi helicopters around the world with the possibility of repair and restoration work on the basis of the customer, the agency notes.
