MOSCOW, 14 Apr-RIA Novosti. A universal complex of guided and unguided weapons is being developed in the Russian Federation for several types of attack unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including the "Outpost" drones, a source in the military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti.
He noted that several companies participate in the program. "Part of the range of ammunition was worked out with UAVs, including in Syria during airstrikes on terrorist targets," the source added.
The interlocutor of the agency also said that the "Inokhodets" strike vehicle is now capable of carrying up to six adjustable mini-bombs of 20 kg caliber or three 50 kg caliber from the new complex, "Outpost" - two such bombs on three suspension units.
"The Altius drone will receive the same set of weapons, only it will be able to carry many times more ammunition. "Altius" and "Pacer" will be able in the future to use adjustable and controlled aerial bombs of up to 100 kilograms, which are also being developed as part of a universal weapons complex," he added.
The source said that the UAV aircraft classes, such as heavy "Hunter" or planned to create "Thunder", the nomenclature of weapons will correspond to the one that is used on manned fighters.
The medium-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle of long flight duration "Pacer" was developed by the company "Kronstadt". The machine has a mass of 1000 kg and is capable of carrying weapons up to 200 kg. The duration of the flight of the device reaches 24 hours. These UAVs were used in Syria to attack militants.
The medium-altitude UAV of a long flight duration "Altius" refers to heavier vehicles: its take-off weight is 5 tons, the weight of the lifted weapon is up to 1000 kg. The maximum duration of the Altius flight is 48 hours. As a source in the military-industrial complex previously told RIA Novosti, the Altius prototype will begin a series of test flights this summer using the entire range of guided weapons, including high-precision missiles.
"Outpost" is a localized version of the Israeli device Searcher. The UAV has a take-off weight of up to 500 kilograms and is capable of lifting up to 100 kilograms of weapons into the air. Its flight duration reaches 18 hours. "Outpost" as well as" Pacer " was used in Syria, including for strikes against militants.
