The US Navy has released rare footage of an F/A-18E Super Hornet carrier-based fighter chasing a Tomahawk cruise missile launched from a Ticonderoga-class cruiser. The time and location of the shooting, as well as the name of the shooting ship, are not reported.
Such interaction between aviation and the navy is used for video recording of missile launches from the air and occurs everywhere - including in the Russian army. However, the captured footage is intended for official use and is usually not published.
Catching up with a cruise missile for the Super Hornet is a simple task. The maximum speed of the main carrier-based fighter of the US Navy is about 2000 kilometers per hour, while the subsonic Tomahawk can accelerate only up to 880 km / h.
Next, the US navy published another spectacular video: a salvo launch by fighter jets of guided air-to-air missiles.
