The Russian Armed Forces will rely on the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies in modern weapons. This was announced on Tuesday, speaking at an operational mobilization meeting with the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, said Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.

"Last year, we fulfilled the order of the Supreme Commander - in - Chief, given in the May 2012 decree-the share of modern weapons and military equipment in the troops was 70.1%," the head of the military department said. "Now it is necessary to ensure the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies in weapons that determine the future appearance of the Armed Forces."

According to Sergei Shoigu, robotic systems, unmanned aerial vehicles and automated control systems are increasingly used in combat training.

The Defense Minister instructed the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces to " continuously improve professional knowledge and skills, introduce advanced training methods into the practice of training military command bodies, formations and military units, and increase the role of field, air and sea training."

"Based on this, in the theoretical part of our work, modern and promising forms of use and methods of action of troops will be considered, taking into account the experience of various military conflicts. As part of the practical exercises, round tables will be held, where we will discuss the issues of complex impact on the enemy and covering our troops, countering unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles, " Sergei Shoigu said.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin in December last year held a meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, which discussed the neutralization of threats to national security associated with the development of artificial intelligence technologies in the armies of the world. Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov made a report on the topic.
