The transfer of two submarines of the Yasen-M project "Kazan" and "Novosibirsk" has also been postponed to 2021
MOSCOW, December 24. /TASS/. The transfer of the Poseidon nuclear submarine carrier of the Belgorod submarine and two Yasen-M project submarines Kazan and Novosibirsk to the Russian Navy has been postponed to 2021. This was reported to TASS by a source in the military-industrial complex.
"It was assumed that by the end of 2020, the Navy will receive a special-purpose submarine "Belgorod" project 09852-the carrier of nuclear underwater drones "Poseidon" and multi-purpose submarines of the project 885M "Yasen-M" - "Kazan"and " Novosibirsk". However, the deadline has been postponed to next year, " the source said.
Another source in the shipbuilding industry confirmed this information. According to him, the transfer of the fleet of these three submarines, as well as the nuclear-powered strategic missile cruiser "Prince Oleg" project 955A ("Borey-A") the next year was mainly caused by the fact that, for a number of reasons beyond the control of Sevmash, which builds submarines, the planned test programs were not completed within the established time frame.
The transfer of submarines
The fact that the Borey-A - Prince Oleg submarine will join the Russian Navy in 2021 was announced at the final Board of the military Department by defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Previously, it was planned that the submarine will be commissioned in 2020.
TASS does not yet have an official comment on Sevmash (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC).
The special-purpose submarine "Belgorod" was withdrawn from the boathouse on April 23, 2019. It was expected that it will be handed over to the Navy at the end of 2020, despite the fact that it will receive an unmanned underwater vehicle "Poseidon" in 2021.
The lead submarine of the project 885M "Yasen-M ""Kazan" was launched on March 31, 2017. The timing of its transfer to the fleet was repeatedly postponed. Earlier, the head of USC Alexey Rakhmanov reported that the plans to transfer the submarine to the fleet in 2020. On December 9, in an interview with the newspaper "Red Star", the commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Alexander Moiseev, said that the boat will complete all state tests by the end of the year.
The first production submarine of the project 885m "Novosibirsk" was launched on December 25, 2019. It was also expected to join the Russian Navy at the end of 2020.
