The British appreciated the training of Russian nuclear forces
The British media dubbed the" preparation for nuclear war " held in Russia earlier exercises, which involved the strategic missile forces, strategic aviation and a nuclear submarine. As a result of the past maneuvers, the Russian military Department released a number of videos showing cruise missile launches.
The British tabloid The Daily Mail published an article about the training of Russia's nuclear forces. In the text appeared the expression "preparations for nuclear war and escalation of tension in relations with the West."
As indicated in the article, Russia has expanded its military exercises in recent years. This is happening against the background of growing tensions in relations with the West, which began after the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation in 2014, the publication says.
The article drew attention to the fact that these exercises took place two months before the expiration of the strategic offensive arms reduction Treaty (start-3). It may be extended, although Moscow and Washington have not yet reached a common decision on this issue. The British tabloid recalled that this is the last agreement on the control of nuclear weapons between Russia and the United States, which remained after the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles (INF) was torn up.
In the comments to the publication, as RIA Novosti writes, readers note that there is nothing unusual in such training and Moscow conducts them, like other countries. Many noted that similar tests are carried out by other States, but they do not pay so much attention to this.
According to the military Department, on December 9, the Russian military conducted a training of nuclear forces under the leadership of the Supreme commander-President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
According to the defense Ministry, training and combat launches of an Intercontinental ballistic missile, a submarine-launched ballistic missile, and high-precision long-range air-launched cruise missiles were carried out from the state test cosmodrome Plesetsk, the Barents sea, and the airfields Engels and Ukrainka.
Tu-160 and Tu-95MS aircraft took off from the airfields. Their launches of strategic cruise missiles were captured on video, which was released by the Ministry of defense.
The x-555 is a subsonic strategic air-launched cruise missile. It is a modified version of the X-55, equipped with a conventional warhead instead of a nuclear one. This missile can be equipped with different types of combat units. The X-555 missiles were used as part of the Russian aerospace forces ' military operation in Syria from Tu-160 and Tu-95MS aircraft.
The videos posted by the defense Ministry also show the launch of the YARS Intercontinental ballistic missile from the Plesetsk cosmodrome.
In addition, the military Department demonstrated the launch of a ballistic missile by the nuclear-powered missile cruiser Karelia. The launch was made from an underwater position. The main armament of this strategic cruiser project 667BDRM "Dolphin" is an Intercontinental ballistic missile "Sineva". According to information from open sources, earlier the launch of a Sineva ballistic missile from the K-18 Karelia submarine from a submerged position was made on October 17, 2019.
Training strikes with strategic missiles were carried out at the Kura ranges in Kamchatka and Pemba in Komi. Kura is designed for test launches of ballistic missiles both from submarines and from the Plesetsk cosmodrome. Battle blocks arrive on Kura. This Pemba (former village of Khalmer) is used to work out strikes of strategic aviation.
The Agency, citing specialized aviation resources, noted that the reconnaissance aircraft was over the Bering sea near the borders of Russia for several hours.
The Agency noted that the specified aircraft is able to detect and accompany the missile for 450-500 km. In addition, it can accurately determine its starting and falling point.
