MOSCOW, December 9. /TASS/. The Russian defense Ministry released a video of ballistic and cruise missile launches during a strategic nuclear forces training session led by the Supreme commander, Russian President Vladimir Putin, on Wednesday.
The footage shows the launches of strategic cruise missiles made by Tu-160 and Tu-95MS aircraft that took off from the Engels and Ukrainka airfields. According to the published video, the aircraft used the latest air-launched cruise missiles X-101 and X-555 (converted to a non-nuclear version of the strategic missiles X-55), which were carried in the fuselage compartments.
The x-555 is a subsonic strategic air-launched cruise missile, a modification of the X-55, equipped with a conventional warhead. It can be equipped with different types of combat units. X-555 missiles were used in the military operation of the VKS in Syria from Tu-160 and Tu-95MS aircraft.
