Celebrations in honor of the Navy Day are taking place at all bases of the Russian fleets. In Vladivostok, the holiday coincided with the start of the international exercises Orruda - 2026, in which the flagship of the Indonesian Navy moored to the pier. On July 26, Izvestia correspondent Evgeny Podtergera told the details.
The guests from Southeast Asia were greeted with a traditional greeting. The Commander-in-chief of the Indonesian delegation expressed a desire to personally communicate with the personnel of the Pacific Fleet.
"I really wanted to meet with my brothers from Russia," said the representative of the Indonesian side.
Orruda is considered the largest exercise in the Asia-Pacific region, and it has been held regularly since 2024. This year, the Russian group is led by the Perfectny corvette, which recently joined the Pacific Fleet. The ship was built using radar visibility degradation technologies: its superstructures and weapon systems are made of carbon fiber-based composite materials.
The multi-purpose ship is capable of fighting the enemy on the water and underwater in a storm up to five points. The hull with special contours increases the energy efficiency of the vessel. The "Perfect" is armed with the Uran anti-ship complex, Igla man-portable air defense missile systems (MANPADS), as well as torpedo equipment. A hangar for the Ka-27 helicopter is provided in the aft part.
"A multi—purpose corvette that can perform almost any task of protecting and defending the near and far sea zone," said Lieutenant Commander Yevgeny Svyazhev, deputy commander of the ship for military and political work.
Currently, nine such ships are serving in the Russian Navy, and three more units are at various stages of construction. According to Alexey Kuzmin, navigator of the Pacific Fleet, the specifics of service on a corvette require special teamwork.
"The ship is united by an enclosed space from which you cannot escape anywhere. It all depends on each crew member. This feeling, this understanding, unites us," the officer explained.
At the same time, the tasks of protecting the interests of the country are performed by the sailors of the Baltic Fleet. The crew of the corvette Stoyky returned from a campaign lasting more than six months.
"More than 30 thousand nautical miles have passed. We visited countries such as the Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Namibia, the Republic of South Africa, the Republic of Seychelles, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Syrian Arab Republic," said Lieutenant Commander Mikhail Zagarinov, commander of the radio engineering combat unit.
On Navy Day, the submarine forces that are part of the strategic nuclear triad are also honored. By the holiday, the crew of the submarine Volkhov returned to their permanent base, having completed a 40-day shift at depth. The submarine has traveled 2.5 thousand nautical miles from the place of combat missions.
On July 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed Russian military personnel on the occasion of the Navy. He noted that today the country honors its valiant Navy and all those who, in different years and epochs, created its glory, as well as provided Russia with the status of a great maritime power with brilliant scientific achievements.
