RT-Design Technologies (part of Rostec) has introduced comprehensive infrastructure protection against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the first time. The Spider Web system is a modular metal structure capable of withstanding a direct hit by a drone weighing up to 200 kilograms in the basic version. The solution allows effective protection of facilities such as oil storage facilities, electrical substations, and others. The product presentation took place during the regional mission of the State Corporation in the Tver region.
The product was developed by RT-Design Technologies in partnership with Standard Electric. The structure has passed field tests for seismological stability. Tests of the product's resistance to being hit by various types of UAVs are continuing.
"Comprehensive protection against UAVs allows you to build a solid solid network around the object to "catch" drones. In the basic version, it can stop a 200-kilogram drone flying at a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. At the same time, the protection of the "Web" can be significantly enhanced without additional developments. The solution allows you to protect oil storage facilities, fuel terminals, electrical substations, warehouses and other facilities from most long-range drones used by the enemy. Together with Rostec's other anti—drone solutions, including electronic suppression systems and kinetic destruction devices, the complex provides a high guarantee of the safety of important civilian infrastructure," said Alexander Nazarov, Deputy General Director of Rostec State Corporation.
The "web" can protect objects with a height of more than 25 meters and any area. Currently, the product is already undergoing trial operation at a number of facilities in the fuel and energy complex. The protection consists of supporting columns, a power grid and supports. It is assembled only on bolted connections and does not require welding, which allows installation in cramped conditions and with increased fire risk. This reduces costs, increases the speed and safety of installation.
"Our comprehensive UAV protection can be applied to facilities of any complexity due to the possibility of rapid development and release of additional elements. All metal structures receive factory corrosion protection by hot-dip galvanizing. This eliminates the need for the customer to paint structures during installation and during operation, which significantly reduces costs and prolongs the life cycle of products. The full package of project documentation is also included in the product price. Such approaches make our solution not only reliable, but also the most profitable," said Vasily Zuikov, CEO of RT—Design Technologies.
