More than 100 employees of the company were awarded for their conscientious work and contribution to the development of the domestic engine industry.
The ODK-Klimov Experimental Design Bureau (part of the United Engine Corporation of Rostec State Corporation) celebrated its 80th anniversary. More than 100 employees of the company were awarded diplomas and commemorative medals for their hard work and contribution to the development of the domestic engine industry.
The Design Bureau for the creation of aircraft piston and air jet engines No. 117 was established on July 1, 1946 by order of the USSR Ministry of Aviation Industry. The first head was the legendary designer Vladimir Yakovlevich Klimov, under whose leadership advanced engines for their time were created.
The design idea of the Design Bureau has largely determined the prospects for the development of the entire aircraft engine industry in the country. Among the landmark developments of the design bureau are the TV2-117 and TV3-117 engines for Mi-8, Ka-28 helicopters and their modifications, and the creation of engines for T-80 and T-64A tanks. An important stage was the design of the TV7-117 engine, which marked the beginning of a family of turboshaft and turboprop products, modifications of which were created and are now mass-produced at the enterprise.
"Vladimir Klimov's Experimental Design Bureau is an intellectual center that has been at the forefront of scientific and technical thought for many years. The school created here is true to the traditions of bold engineering solutions based on deep knowledge and a responsible approach to work. Today, the staff of the ODK-Klimov experimental design bureau is one of the mainstays of the Russian engine industry. Here, the traditions and principles laid down by the founder are being developed by new generations of specialists. They not only bring current tasks to life, but shape the future and open up the prospect of further development of the industry," said Alexander Grachev, CEO of UEC.
The anniversary of the Design Bureau was celebrated with a solemn meeting: employees and veterans of the enterprise, representatives of the city administration, as well as honored guests took part in it.
"Without airplanes and helicopters with Klimov engines, it is impossible to imagine the skies of Russia today. For decades, it was the power plants designed by the ODK-Klimov design bureau that became the very thrust that lifted into the air the machines that define the look of Russian aviation. And this is a great part of the merit of the company's design school. With the help of engineers and designers, UEC-Klimov is shaping the architecture of the aviation industry for years to come. This is how true technological sovereignty is born," said Alexander Sitov, Chairman of the Committee on Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade of St. Petersburg.
102 employees of UEC-Klimov were awarded for their conscientious work and contribution to the development of the domestic engine industry. They received diplomas and commemorative medals from Alexey Nesterenko, General Director of UEC-Klimov, Evgeny Prodanov, General designer, and Valery Chukhvantsev, chairman of the primary trade union public organization.
"OKB specialists continue the traditions of the unique design school, founded in the distant post-war years, which is based on the search for new things, the introduction of innovative ideas and non-standard solutions. May the developments of UEC-Klimov continue to serve for the benefit of the Fatherland, setting the vector for the development of the industry and strengthening Russia's position on the world stage," said Alexey Nesterenko, CEO of UEC—Klimov.
Modern helicopter engines VK-650V, VK-1600V, VK-2500PS-03, and the TV7-117 family are a striking example of the high level of competence and scientific and technical groundwork accumulated by the company over 80 years. In a short time, the designers of UEC Klimov created the first domestic VK-650V engine for helicopters weighing up to 4 tons. Today, Ansat M, Mi 34M1 and Ka 226T helicopters equipped with VK-650V are successfully undergoing flight tests.
This year, the IL-114-300 aircraft with TV7-117ST-01 turboprop engines passed flight certification tests. The engine is included in the current certificate of approval of the production organization, and at the moment ODK-Klimov is fully ready for its serial production.
Over the past five years, the specialists of the experimental design bureau have created and presented at international exhibitions several unique developments - a hybrid power plant with a capacity of 500 kW, an energy node with a capacity of 35 kW and a battery module with a capacity of 25 kW. These innovative developments open up a new mass market for promising aircraft for the company and the country.
