The U.S. maritime borders are now guarded by unmanned Saildrone Voyager boats. These robotic surface vehicles are deployed in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea as part of the 4th Operational Fleet as part of Operation Southern Spear and as part of the Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-S).
This is reported in the American magazine Scuttlebutt.
The main task of unmanned vehicles is to detect illegal drug trafficking from Latin American countries to the United States. Thus, naval drones make a significant contribution to ensuring the security of the borders of the United States and help them restore their sovereignty. Their active involvement is connected with the introduction of a state of emergency by the American administration on the southern border of the country.
The US authorities have decided to double the number of marine drones patrolling the border area. There are 20 such backups deployed. Saildrone Voyager vehicles have the ability to stay at sea for a long time and are equipped with a set of the latest sensors, radars and communications equipment. The length of the boat is 10 meters.
Drones are capable of detecting suspicious vessels, tracking their movements, and transmitting information about them in near-real time to take prompt action.

At the moment, the US Navy and Coast Guard have deployed entire flotillas of warships to the southern borders. Despite this, it is difficult for them to reliably control the country's maritime borders, because its coastline is thousands of kilometers long. And the use of Saildrone Voyager drones allows you to significantly save the cost of protecting the maritime border, since their cost is significantly lower than the cost of a warship or a Coast Guard boat.
