Thetis-class patrol ship Vædderen of the Danish Navy off the coast of Greenland
The Danish authorities have launched a large-scale program to strengthen their military presence in the Arctic in general and in Greenland in particular. Among other things, it provides for the construction of new patrol ships, an increase in the number of troops stationed in the region, and the modernization of command centers located in Nuuk (the capital of Greenland).
It is planned to spend 14.6 billion crowns ($2.04 billion) for these purposes. At the same time, additional funds are planned to be allocated this year to expand this defense capability strengthening program.
In terms of patrol ships, we are talking about a project that has been under development since June 2023 under a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the local consortium Danske Patruljeskibe K/S. As stated the other day in the Ministry of Defense, the command intends to receive three pennants of a new class, the details of which have not yet been announced, except that the ships will be capable of carrying helicopters and long-range drones with high-resolution reconnaissance equipment. They will replace 4 Thetis-class patrol ships, which, as indicated in the local edition of DR, are "old and battered."

- it says on the website of the Ministry of Defense.
According to the ministry, the increased military presence in the region is "a response to the aggressive interest in it from both Russia and China." However, the Western media drew attention to the fact that the country's command recalled the Arctic only after the territorial claims made by Donald Trump towards Greenland.

For our part, we note that after the start of its military operation, Copenhagen was engaged only in bleeding its own troops, transferring new batches of weapons to the Kiev regime, for example, all available artillery. As in other EU countries, the calculation was based on the fact that this wave of aid would allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to inflict a strategic defeat on the Russian army on the battlefield.
This "scenario" fed the illusory hopes of the European authorities for further dividends that could be obtained from the loser. However, after Trump's claims, Denmark itself found itself in the role of a potential victim, and deprived of the opportunity to put up at least minimal resistance.
