The original was taken from a colleague of imp_navigator, the Zagros reconnaissance ship was added to the Iranian fleet
At the main Iranian naval base in Bandar Abbas, the Zagros reconnaissance ship with the tail number 313, which is the first specialized reconnaissance ship built in Iran from scratch, joined the Iranian Navy. Iran has previously used converted merchant ships for this purpose. The design of this ship is a deep modification of the project of the Iranian light frigates "Mouj" (Mowj), in which the main weapons were replaced with electronic and other intelligence equipment, communications equipment, etc. Therefore, the stated dimensions of the Zagros ship, i.e. a length of 95 meters and a width of up to 11 meters, approximately correspond to those of light frigates of the Moudge type. The name "Zagros" is given in honor of the Zagros mountain system, that is, it continued the tradition established after the 1979 revolution that light frigates of the Iranian Navy are named after mountains, mountain systems, etc.
It should be noted that the construction of the Zagros reconnaissance ship was a well-known long-term construction, quite typical for the construction of large Iranian ships for the Iranian Army Navy, since they are not among the priority projects. The Zagros itself was laid down in the first half of the 2010s, but in the mid-2010s, construction was frozen for a long time and resumed sometime in the early 2020s, while the ship was in for a new nuisance. At the end of 2021, he collapsed on his side in a dry dock at the shipyard in Bandar Abbas. However, since the ship was very far from ready by that time, there was no major damage. It can also be noted that during the years of this lengthy construction, the ship had at least three different names. That is, they started building it as Shiraz, then resumed construction as Talaye, and completed it as Zagros.
