The French Navy shot down a UAV for the first time using an electronic jamming system during a repulse of an air attack by the Houthis in the Red Sea.
This was reported in the local edition of Naval News. As indicated, the French frigate FREMM, equipped with new jamming systems, successfully hit a drone of Yemeni rebels in October.

French Navy FREMM-class frigate with electronic warfare systems
Rear Admiral David Defouger, head of planning and programs of the Navy, pointed out that we are talking about two electronic warfare systems Neptune and MAJES DB6, which are developed and manufactured by the French company MC2 Technologies. The first is a powerful satellite communications "jammer" designed to overcome enemy air defense; the second is the latest version of the PARADE "jammer", originally developed to combat drones and deployed during the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
As indicated in the publication, electronic warfare systems should become a powerful addition to the Aster naval anti-aircraft missiles and the 76-mm main gun.

As noted in the press, this is a significant achievement, considering that Neptune and MAJES have never been tested in marine conditions before (and were not designed for this).
In September 2024, the Wildfire exercises of the French Navy took place, where, according to the navy, the Neptune and MAJES electronic warfare systems proved to be very effective in neutralizing a swarm of five UAVs, hitting them within a radius of 15 to 30 km.
Taking into account the positive experience of using these systems, they were equipped with ships accompanying the French aircraft carrier, which recently went to the Indo-Pacific region and will transit through the Red Sea.
