"Optimally suited for fighting submarines": the launch of the Black Scorpion mini torpedoes from the Italian small-sized DS8 submarine is shown

As explained in the Italian companies Drass and Leonardo, in the context of the movement of marine threats from deep-sea areas to coastal and shallow waters, they decided to join forces to create a small-sized attack submarine.

As a result, the unobtrusive underwater vehicle DS8 Swimmer Delivery Vehicle ("equipment for the delivery of swimmers", SDV) from Drass, originally designed for patrolling and performing reconnaissance operations, was transformed into a shock vehicle, receiving two TA for launching Black Scorpion mini torpedoes from Leonardo. In this configuration, it is planned to be used for anti-submarine warfare.

The developer showed images showing the DS8 testing in the PLO modification, which took place this summer.

During sea trials, the DS8 SDV successfully launched Black Scorpion torpedoes in both static and dynamic conditions, demonstrating the platform's readiness to perform critical tasks

The Black Scorpion is a modern lightweight torpedo with a diameter of 5 inches [127 mm], specially designed for shallow water operations.

Due to its advanced characteristics, it is optimally suited to combat both high-speed surface vessels and conventional submarines at depth

The DS8, capable of operating at depths up to 50 m, has a fiberglass skin and a durable aluminum or stainless steel body.

Если бы Black Scorpion ,был бла то он бы представлял опасность даже для нашей группировки производящей ракетные пуски в Восточном Средиземноморье,а так человеческий фактор против которого есть целый арсенал средств.
