The aviation and space exhibition Airshow China 2024 will be held for the fourteenth time in Zhuhai city of China's southern Guangdong Province from November 12 to 17. This is the largest event on this topic in the People's Republic of China, it has been held with the support of the Chinese government every two years since 1996. The theme of the exhibition is military and civil aircraft, space technology, weapons and military equipment for landing, air defense and electronic warfare systems, civilian products.
Russia has its own pavilion at Airshow China 2024 this year, where the latest developments of the domestic aerospace and other industries will be presented. The Chinese were greatly excited by the Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, which has already arrived to participate in the event. This is the first demonstration of this aircraft abroad.
Not only experts want to look at the Russian fighter, but also ordinary Chinese residents. The huge interest in the Russian combat aircraft, in particular, but rather primarily, is caused by the fact that it has already taken part and is taking part in the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine during its military operations. And this is despite the fact that the Russian Federation, instead of new serial equipment, sent to the exhibition a prototype of an earlier T-50-4 fighter with tail number 054, which has been in operation since 2012. But the car is proven, it will not let itself down at the airshow.
In addition to the Su-57, our delegation will demonstrate new developments of more than fifty enterprises of the civil and military sectors of the country. The Russian part of the exhibition will be one of the largest and will be represented by leading plants belonging to Rostec Corporation. Apart from the Su-57 fighter, nothing has been written about the rest of the exhibits from the Russian Federation so far.
However, there is something to pay attention to for Russian specialists in the military aviation industry. In particular, China will present an analogue of our newest "drying" — the Chengdu J-20 heavy multirole fighter of the fifth generation. It, like the Su-57, is considered inconspicuous and was created using the so-called stealth technology. In addition, China will present a new carrier-based stealth fighter J-35A, also known as the carrier of hypersonic missiles.
The Central Television of the People's Republic of China reported that this allows China to become the second country after the United States to have two stealth fighters. American combat aviation units are equipped with F-22 and F-35 stealth aircraft.
The Chinese have turned their airshow into an analogue of the Russian annual military-themed forum and exhibition "Army". In addition to aviation, China will also present ground equipment. It is already known that Chinese DongFeng Mengshi family combat vehicles, 300 mm MLRS, self-propelled guns, the latest VT-4A1 MBT (it is called the Chinese equivalent of our T-90) and engineering vehicles will be demonstrated at the exhibition in Zhuhai. And of course, there will be Chinese-made air defense systems that look very similar to our S-400.
The day before, the governor of Guangdong Province, Zhang Hu, told the press that 890 companies from 47 countries and regions will take part in the exhibition, of which Russia, along with France, the United States, Saudi Arabia and Italy, will present their pavilions. It is noteworthy that during the growing confrontation between the United States and China, which is sure to escalate if Trump wins the presidential election today, at least three NATO countries, including the United States, are taking part in the exhibition. At the same time, it is obvious that they came mainly to see, not to show.
The governor of Guangdong Province noted that the total exhibition area within the framework of the exhibition will reach 450 thousand square meters, the number of exhibition halls will be thirteen. The covered exhibition area will be 120 thousand square meters. In addition, Zhang Hu said that for the first time in its history, a demonstration zone for unmanned aerial vehicles will be opened at the upcoming exhibition, which is not surprising at all, given the greatly increased interest in the use of UAVs in both the military and civilian spheres. Naturally, there will be many robotic systems, mostly made in China.
