The controller
Over the past decades, the concept of "war game" has undergone a rather interesting evolution. At first, children's fun migrated to computer screens, becoming a truly gigantic segment of the IT industry, and from there, thanks to modern technologies, to military training grounds and even to very real battlefields.
The controller
So, the US Department of Defense is actively developing combat equipment control systems based on video game equipment — in particular, resembling an Xbox gamepad. One of these systems is designed to neutralize fired projectiles using a three-kilowatt laser mounted on an 18-ton truck. It is controlled by an FMCU controller with a set of buttons and two sticks, which is not much different from standard Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo controllers.
The controller
It's no secret that Xbox gamepads are widely used by UAV operators, and the Xbox 360 controller is even used to control the periscope of the US Navy submarine Colorado. During the conflict in Ukraine, AFU operators use the Valve Steam Deck portable gaming computer to control UAVs and automatic turrets.
