Putin: Russia has multiplied the production of demanded weapons in the conditions of its own
ST. PETERSBURG, September 19 — RIA Novosti. Russia has multiplied the production of highly demanded weapons in its conditions, Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission on the development of unmanned special-purpose aviation systems.
He added that specialists of the military-industrial complex work on the front line on a par with the military, offering the best solutions for improving equipment. The Head of State noted that the topic of unmanned aircraft systems is extremely important and the effectiveness of their multipurpose use on the battlefield was confirmed during the Air defense.
The President also thanked the heads and employees of the UAV manufacturing enterprises for the high-quality equipment. He stressed that advanced technologies and new engineering solutions are used in its creation. Thanks to this, Russia gains an advantage on the battlefield, Putin added.
Putin also noted that work on the design, testing and serial production of drones will be carried out on the basis of special centers — 48 such sites are planned to be created by 2030. At the same time, he said that it is necessary to decide now what tasks these devices will perform in the future.
The Head of State stressed that Russia needs to completely cover the needs of the army, increase the production of drones and introduce artificial intelligence technologies. He clarified that in 2023, 140 thousand unmanned systems were supplied to the Armed Forces, this year their number is planned to increase tenfold.
According to the president, when working in this area, synergy is needed between large scientific centers and small and medium-sized businesses. In addition, it is important to help organizations of the "national" military-industrial complex realize their potential, he added.
He added that it is also necessary to look for means of fire and electronic destruction of UAVs. According to the head of state, this will save the lives of servicemen and civilians, more reliably protect military equipment and civilian infrastructure, as well as critical facilities.
Earlier on Thursday, Putin arrived at the defense enterprise "Special Technology Center" in St. Petersburg. There he examined samples of drones, and also visited an exhibition of samples of robotic complexes. In particular, the President was shown tracked platforms, kamikaze drones, reconnaissance complexes with an unmanned aerial vehicle, and a sample of barrage ammunition.
Together with Putin, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Deputy head of the presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin, and presidential aide Alexei Dyumin participated in the inspection of weapons samples.
A special technology center produces drones of the Orlan family. Since 2021, the development of small CubeSat-type spacecraft and target loads for them has been underway, and its own mission control center has been formed. More than ten satellites are planned to be launched in 2024-2025.
The company's customers are Russian federal and law enforcement agencies, and the center's developments have proven their effectiveness not only during tests at the sites of the Ministry of Defense, but also in conditions of real combat operations, including in the zone of its own.
