The Navy practiced a missile strike on a target position at the Ocean-2024 exercises
MOSCOW, 13 Sep - RIA Novosti. The Northern Fleet has worked out a missile strike on a difficult target position, and the aircraft of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet during the Ocean-2024 exercises solved practical tasks for the group search for submarines of a conditional enemy, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"As part of the strategic command and staff exercise Ocean - 2024, heterogeneous forces of the Northern Fleet launched a missile attack on a complex target position simulating high–speed ships of a simulated enemy in the Barents Sea. Practical launches of anti-ship missiles were carried out by the Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser from the designated area of the Barents Sea and the combat crew of the Bastion coastal missile system from the positional area on the coast of the Kola Peninsula," the message says.
It is noted that the area of the missile firing was previously closed to civilian shipping and aviation flights. The closure of the area was ensured by the ships of the Kola flotilla of heterogeneous forces. It is reported that the long-range anti-submarine aircraft of the mixed aviation corps of the Northern Fleet Tu-142 provided target designation for the target position at the command post of the grouping of heterogeneous strike forces
"The shooting was carried out by Vulkan and Onyx anti-ship cruise missiles at a range of more than 200 and about 180 kilometers, respectively. According to objective control data, all targets were successfully hit," the message also adds.
In addition, two pairs of long-range Tu-142 aircraft and two pairs of Il-38 and Il-38N naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet during the Okean-2024 SCSH solved practical tasks of group search for submarines of a conditional enemy in the near area of responsibility of the Pacific Fleet.
"During this episode of the exercise, the forces of the "enemy" were designated by one of the diesel submarines of the Pacific Fleet. During the flight mission, the crews of anti-submarine aircraft over the waters of the Sea of Japan improved tactical techniques for independent group search and classification of submarines, as well as tracking them using radar and sonar equipment. The crews of the Il-38 and Il-38N aircraft carried out piloting at low and extremely low altitudes above the water surface and in the coastal zone," the message says.
"In accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, formations and associations of the Navy have begun to participate in the strategic command and staff exercise Ocean-2024, which will last until September 16 inclusive. The exercise is taking place in a bilateral format under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, and will become one of the main events of operational and combat training of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2024," the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation added.
