On the margins of the recently held Army 2024 exhibition, among other novelties presented to the general public, the T-90M "Breakthrough" tank, equipped with a mine trawl, appeared.

This is a tactical curiosity. After the recent modernization of the T-90M, it can be considered the most powerful Russian MBT used in Ukraine. It seems that its configuration with a sapper system does not correspond much to the power that is embedded in this armored vehicle

- an assessment is given in the Defensa edition.

As indicated, mine-resistant modifications are most often created on the basis of outdated products, since they face "the most severe combat conditions" [that is, they are at maximum risk] when making passes through enemy barriers.

As can be understood from the author's reasoning, the T-90M "Breakthrough" received a mine modification, since it should be on the "edge of attack" precisely because of its enormous power, including with regard to defensive systems.

According to him, the new version of this MBT provides for equipping the hull and turret of the tank with camouflage, which makes it difficult to detect it in the thermal spectrum, as well as equipping the machine with various sensors [threat detection] and a fairly high lattice "casemate" ["birdhouse"] to repel drone attacks.

The bomb disposal system attached to the T-90M consists of several elements. The first blow is taken by small "rollers" located in front in a row and suspended on a single chain. Hypothetically, the explosion may be limited to affecting only them.

Next, closer to the tank, there is a massive [two-track] minesweeper. It has 6 radiating elements that generate a magnetic field to affect mines in order to destroy them.

As explained in the Western press, the sapper modification of the T-90M "Breakthrough" tank has a combat weight of 51 tons, develops a speed of 60 km/ h thanks to the B-92X2F engine with 1130 hp and requires three crew members.
