The machines of the Plastun family are designed for the transportation of goods, wounded and personnel
Two new all-terrain vehicles - the tracked Plastun—2 and the wheeled tactical transporter Plastun-TT - will be presented at the international military-technical forum "Army-2024", which opens on Monday, August 12. Both vehicles are designed to transport cargo, wounded and personnel both on ordinary roads and off-road. Experts note that both vehicles are needed by the army as front-line supply vehicles, and they will be in particular demand during off-road periods.
"Plastun" will pass everywhere
— Negotiations are underway on the supply of these vehicles to the Armed Forces of Russia, — the developers of all-terrain vehicles from the company "Russian All-terrain vehicles "Plastun" told Izvestia.
The Plastun-2 all-terrain vehicle is presented at the forum in station wagon and pickup trucks. Due to their good cross—country ability, they can be used in any weather in off-road conditions - this is achieved due to the minimum specific pressure on the ground and the special design of the tracks. The developers claim that a person walking in the snow will fall deeper into it than an all-terrain vehicle weighing up to 3.5 tons.
— The station wagon accommodates a driver, a navigator and four passengers, — the chief designer of the Russian Plastun All-Terrain Vehicles company told Izvestia. — There is a cargo compartment in the rear of the cabin. The body of the Plastun-2 is mounted on a steel frame and is made of aluminum. The roof is a PVC awning. The interior is heated.

Due to the cargo compartment, two more passenger seats can be added to the all-terrain vehicle, which will increase the number of seats to eight.
The driver's and navigator's seats are equipped with three—point seat belts, springing and heating. The steering wheel is sheathed in wear-resistant eco-leather. The steering column can be adjusted in height. A multimedia system with a navigator and a rear-view camera is mounted on the front panel.
The windshield is two—piece, heated and with the upper position of the wiper arms.
There are brackets on the body that allow you to install the so—called grill - protection from UAVs.

The all-terrain vehicle received a six-speed manual transmission and a 115 hp diesel engine, which allow it to reach speeds of up to 60 km/h. Additional equipment includes sockets, including USB, a winch and additional external plastic cans of 20 liters each, allowing you to take with you a fuel reserve of 80 liters.
The pickup truck has a cab for the driver and navigator, behind which there is a cargo platform.
Increased maneuverability
The Plastun-TT tactical transporter is a lightweight all—terrain vehicle on a articulated steel frame.
— In conditions of serious off—road conditions, such vehicles have higher cross—country ability than solid-frame ones - it is achieved due to the fracture effect, - said the chief designer. — By spinning the steering wheel to the right and left, and therefore rhythmically folding the frame, the driver directs the front wheels over the still untouched areas of the ground. This one allows the car to climb out of the mud.
Also, due to the folding of the frame, the conveyor has a smaller turning radius, which means better maneuverability.
— The design of the car is as simple as possible — two axles and wheels that do not turn — there is actually nothing to break there, — said the engineer.
Excluding the driver, the car can carry up to eight people.
In the front of the conveyor there is a driver's and navigator's seat. In the rear there are two benches for three people, located on the sides, which provides the fighters with an all—round view.

There is also a seat for one person in the back in the center. In the medical evacuation version, two stretchers for the wounded can be installed instead of benches, and a medic accompanying them will take the seat.
The car is open, but an easily removable awning made of PVC and flexible glass is provided for the driver and navigator or officer, which stretches over the frame, protecting it from the weather. The windshield is made of polycarbonate. The front seats are equipped with three-point seat belts and heated seats. In addition, the cabin itself is heated, there are additional outlets.
All Russian—made components: the engine, transfer case and gearbox are from Niva, the axles are from Gazelle.
Both vehicles will be needed by the army — with their help it will be possible to supply the advanced units with everything necessary and arrange the evacuation of the wounded, military expert Yuri Lyamin told Izvestia.
— Now such relatively light machines are needed in the SVO zone, — he noted. — Similar in functionality, Chinese Desertcross are widely used on the front line, including as supply vehicles. The main threat in our immediate rear is FPV drones. It is easier to hide such a car from them, it can move off the roads. For these reasons, it is more difficult to destroy it. Larger equipment is easily detected, it is immediately subjected to a massive attack by kamikaze drones.
Such machines are expendable, he believes.

— We need a lot of them at the front here and now, — the expert explained. — The use of standard automotive components in this case is a plus. They will make such all-terrain vehicles much cheaper. It is important to quickly establish their mass production. We often have problems here — everything is missing, including personnel.
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that Plastun-SN all-terrain vehicles, first shown at the Army-2023 forum, had already been baptized in the area of the special operation. These vehicles received light armor and bulletproof glass that can withstand 7.62 mm bullets fired from a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a Dragunov sniper rifle from a distance of 100 m. All—terrain vehicles are used as vehicles for evacuating the wounded - two stretchers are placed in them.
Plastun-CH can be equipped with two types of lifting masts, which are equipped with video equipment for monitoring the terrain, including thermal imagers. This allows you to conduct reconnaissance or visually monitor the desired area even at night.
The image from the camera is sent to the screen, which is installed directly in the cabin. Also, an 82 mm mortar can be installed on the Plastun-CH.
