It is reported that a new recently commissioned border patrol ship of the 4th rank (actually a boat) "Albatross" of project 03050 (code "Huys") took part in the naval parade on July 28, 2024 in honor of Navy Day in Baltiysk The Coast Guard of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia. Its commissioning has not been publicly reported. According to known data, this is the ninth commissioned border patrol ship (PCR) of project 03050.

The construction of border patrol ships of the 4th rank (actually patrol boats) of project 03050 (code "Guys") for the Coast Guard of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia was started at JSC Vimpel Shipbuilding Plant in Rybinsk in 2016. These units of the SSZ "Vimpel" were also designated as the modernized project 1496M1 (cipher "Manatee") in the "marine version", or as project 1496M1E.
Initially, the Vimpel plant built and commissioned in 2018-2020 for the Coast Guard of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia five PKRS of this type - "Orlan", "Kite", "Gyrfalcon", "Vulture" and "Buzzard" (factory numbers 01408, and from 01410 to 01413). The sixth UCR of the construction of this plant "Burevestnik" (factory number 01414) was launched on July 4, 2023 and commissioned at the end of 2023. All of them are located on the Black and Azov Seas. According to known data, two more RCDs of this type with factory numbers 01415 and 01416 are under construction at the Vimpel GCC.
Since 2020, construction for the Coast Guard of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia of the Pskov Region of the 4th rank of project 03050 has also been started at PJSC Yaroslavl Shipbuilding Plant, where on October 29, 2020, the first two units of this type "Hawk" and "Falcon" (factory numbers 751 and 752), commissioned by by the end of 2022, respectively, in the Baltic and Caspian Seas. In 2022, the construction of two more units of this type (factory numbers 753 and 754) was started in Yaroslavl.
Then JSC "Nizhny Novgorod Motor Ship Plant" (the city of Bor, Nizhny Novgorod region) was connected to the construction of the project 03050, where the lead ship "Albatros" (factory number 1801) was laid down in 2022 and commissioned in the Baltic Sea at the end of 2023. Also, the construction of a similar unit with the factory number 1802 has begun at the plant.
This project 03050 (code "Guys"), also known as the modernized project 1496M1 (code "Manatee") is actually almost completely new in relation to the border patrol boats of the previous projects 1496M and 1496M1, which were built for the FSB Border Service since 2004. The new project was carried out by the Advanced Shipbuilding Department of JSC SSZ Vimpel together with the Central Research Institute of the Navy (TSNIIMF), taking into account the wishes of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia to improve technical characteristics and habitability. A wide range of possibilities for performing patrol functions in the coastal zone is provided due to effective armament, efficiency, availability of modern equipment, navigation and communications.

In addition, the SSZ Vimpel developed and built for the Coast Guard of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia a border patrol boat of project 1496M1 (cipher "Manatee") in a variant of the project in the "river version" (in fact, significantly different from the project in the "marine version"), later redesignated as project 02870 (cipher "Riverman"). The lead and so far the only boat in the "river version" (factory number 01409) was launched in Rybinsk on May 28, 2020, and was delivered to the customer in 2021.
