Vladimir Putin said this on May 25 at a meeting with the heads of defense industry enterprises in Korolev, near Moscow. The President discussed strengthening the country's defense capability with security forces and military designers: most enterprises fulfill the state defense order on time, and in some positions even ahead of schedule. Since the beginning of the special operation, the volume of ammunition production has increased 14 times, drones — fourfold, armored weapons — 3.5 times. At the same time, the production of civilian products should remain on the agenda for the defense industry, the president warned. Vladimir Putin arrived in Korolev on May 25. There, at the site of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation, he met with the heads of enterprises of the military-industrial complex. The President said that he had been planning to hold a working meeting with industry representatives for a long time and now is the time to check the clock. The focus is on the prospects for the development of the Russian defense industry, including the supply of the most in—demand weapons and equipment. According to Putin's estimates, most enterprises fulfill the tasks of the state defense order efficiently and on time, and in a number of positions — even ahead of schedule.
"It is important to continue to increase the rhythmic provision of the armed forces with modern, high-tech weapons and equipment. These are unmanned aerial and ground—based complexes, high-precision weapons, electronic warfare and counter-battery warfare systems, various types of communication for sustainable and continuous control and other nomenclature," he said.

Significant growth has been noted in many areas during the special military operation. For rocket and artillery weapons - more than 22 times, for electronic warfare and reconnaissance — 15 times, for ammunition and weapons of destruction — 14 times, for cars — seven times, for personal armor protection — six times, for aviation equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles — four times, for armored weapons — almost 3.5 times.
The Russian military-industrial complex has increased production in many positions after the start of its military-industrial complex, experts confirmed. In particular, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, summing up the results of 2023, reported that the production of basic weapons and ammunition increased significantly over the year. At the same time, plans for 2024 were announced: the Russian Armed Forces should receive more than 36 thousand basic samples of military equipment, 16.5 million weapons of destruction.
"We have to be one step ahead all the time, we have to be ahead of the enemy all the time, and then victory will be guaranteed. You know yourself. Your specialists, and you yourself, are in contact all the time with those of our guys who are working on the line of contact, fighting, not sparing themselves, defending the interests of Russia. As soon as we are at least half a step ahead, that's it, the efficiency increases multiple times, just multiple times," the president stated.
Unresolved issues in the industry
The domestic defense industry is working powerfully and dynamically, but Russia needs to be ready for a serious confrontation with the West, up to a military clash, military expert Vladislav Shurygin told Izvestia.

— In this situation, it is vital to properly arrange investments in the defense industry so that they do not go into the sand. Special attention should be paid to high-tech weapons and means of destruction, to debug the solution of important problems. So that it doesn't work out like with the connection, they know about the problem, but they can't solve it for two years," the expert noted.
Military expert Vasily Dandykin agrees with this, since it is the controllability, and therefore the effectiveness of the troops' actions, that depends on the means of communication.
— It is no secret that there are problems in this area, the general in charge of this area was arrested. And they need to be solved as soon as possible — here we have to focus our efforts," he explained.
It is also necessary for the army to increase the production of UAVs, special attention should be paid to counter-battery warfare, since this will effectively suppress enemy artillery.
— I would like to see the newest long-range self—propelled gun "Coalition-SV" on the line of contact, it could seriously complicate the life of the AFU gunners, - said Vasily Dandykin.
According to Vladimir Putin, military designers need to more actively introduce modern technologies and innovative solutions in order to improve and improve the tactical and technical characteristics of weapons, taking into account the experience of their combat use. He also believes that it is necessary to use the resources of the "national defense industry" more effectively. His role in the special operation is quite significant, Alexander Spiridonov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade, agrees.
— The fact is that over the past two years we have had a lot of so-called Kulibins, folk craftsmen. The main advantage of such developments is the speed of interaction between manufacturers and fighters. Specialists themselves transfer devices to the front, collect military opinions and refine samples," he explained to Izvestia.

Establishing the economy of the armed forces
Now Russian troops have seized the initiative in the area of their own defense. This week, Kleshcheyevka was taken in the DPR, the stubborn battles for which lasted more than a year. Several dozen settlements have been liberated in the Kharkiv direction.
— Now there are battles going on for the city of Volchansk. We are stretching the enemy's forces, and he does not know where to expect the next blow," Vasily Dandykin said.
At the same time, it is especially important today to build an effective economy of the armed forces, Vladimir Putin said. In this matter, the authorities rely on the new Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, who has extensive experience in solving economic issues.
"We all understand that with such expenses, the economy of the armed forces, which is part of the economy of the whole country, must be built accordingly so that every state ruble works effectively. And not only effectively for the needs of the armed forces, but in general would fit into the economy," the president said.
According to Alexander Spiridonov, the main issues remain pricing and calculating profitability for the state defense order. The ability of enterprises to modernize production, introduce new technologies and equipment, improve working conditions and increase environmental safety, and fulfill social obligations to employees depends on their solution. By the way, over the past year and a half, over 520 thousand new jobs have been created in the country's military-industrial complex, the deputy recalled. At the same time, the production of civilian products by defense industry enterprises remains on the agenda, Vladimir Putin stressed.
During his working visit to Korolev, the president also inspected a number of defense industry production facilities, including an assembly shop and a ground testing center. He was presented with air–to–surface products, planning ammunition, long-range air-to-air missiles, as well as a range of bombs of various calibers equipped with a universal planning and correction module (UMPC).
