Lobaev Arms will present a turret cannon to protect armored vehicles from FPV drones
A new turret model (installations for mounting machine guns or small-caliber automatic guns), which will protect Russian armored vehicles from FPV drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), is being developed by the company for the production of ultra-long-range sniper rifles Lobaev Arms, said on April 6, the head of the enterprise Vladislav Lobaev.
"Today Lobaev Arms is creating a complex to protect our armored combat vehicles from Ukrainian FPV drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This topic is not traditional for the company, but we cannot stand aside, given that the use of such drones by the enemy today represents one of the main dangers at the front," he explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He admitted that he had set a goal to find an economical technology that would allow him to fight back against Ukrainian drones. FPV drones are used by the enemy not only for reconnaissance, but also for the delivery of ammunition. In addition, they can withstand electronic warfare (EW), which is a big problem for Russian technology.
"Today, we cannot put up with a situation where a tank for several million dollars can disable a UAV worth 40 thousand rubles in terms of our money," Lobaev said.
The new anti-drone system can work from both an armored vehicle and a tank. The system is a rotating robotic turret for mounting on armored vehicles. The caliber of the gun is 12 and rifled 7.62 x 39 mm, as well as 5.56 x 45 mm, but during the work the appearance of the complex, the caliber and the number of barrels may change.
"In this work, we have so far deliberately moved away from any specific tactical and technical characteristics. The product that will turn out in the end can be greatly modified. The final system can be two-, five- and even six—barreled, and a combination of smooth and rifled barrels is possible," Lobaev summarized.
Lobaev Arms Company is a manufacturer of civilian and service sniper weapons. The production is located in the city of Tarusa in the Kaluga region. The most popular model produced by the company today is the Twilight sniper rifle, whose target range of 4 km is a record.
Earlier, on March 27, military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia that the new Russian FAB-3000 aerial bombs will be designed taking into account all aerodynamic qualities, and in the future they are planned to be used as planning ammunition.

The magazine added that the United States is currently at the stage of developing such hypersonic weapons as part of several programs aimed at "bridging the performance gap."
