Rostec's enterprise, the Obninsk Scientific and Production Enterprise "Technologiya" named after A.G. Romashin, also contributes to the scientific glory of Obninsk, the first science city of modern Russia. Hundreds of technologies for the production of products made of glassy and composite materials for aerospace and other equipment, including the famous Buran spacecraft, were created here.
Last year, ONPE Technologiya developed six new technologies and six new materials, and also received 49 patents for inventions. About the most interesting of them – in our material

Technologiya participates in a broad cooperation of Rostec enterprises working on the import-independent short-haul airliner SJ-100. In 2023, the Obninsk residents successfully replaced the imported cockpit glass of the Superjet with Russian glass. Obninsk NPP has developed a bird–resistant windshield using complex geometry - the so-called semiplex (four silicate glasses connected by three layers of polymer film). The glass is equipped with electric heating to ensure excellent visibility in all weather conditions. In addition, the side windows of the crew cabin were developed − a triplex of oriented, that is, stretched organic glass under heating, as well as protection of the aircraft's external lighting equipment. Glazing for the new Superjet is already being mass-produced, while the capacity of the Technology is sufficient to fully meet demand even with the expansion of aircraft production.
Heat-resistant composites for space

Composite materials for spacecraft are one of the key areas of "Technology". In 2023, a new material was presented here, developed jointly by scientists from the directions "Composite" and "Ceramics". Structures made of this composite are much lighter than their aluminum counterparts, while having high strength and thermal conductivity. At the same time, the material based on thermally conductive carbon fiber is able to withstand temperatures up to +400 °C, providing reliable protection of space technology equipment. The production of a new composite from domestic sources is completely localized in Russia.
A new generation fairing for helicopters

Another innovation introduced by ONPP in 2023 was the technology for the production of radio-transparent antenna fairings for helicopter navigation systems. These products are made of a composite material based on quartz fabric, which provides better signal transmission and increases the efficiency of radar systems of helicopters and other low-speed aircraft. The tests have shown that the transmission coefficient of electromagnetic waves is at least 92-96%, which exceeds the requirements of international standards by 10%. In addition, the fairing is highly resistant to various external influences, including climatic conditions and aerodynamic factors.
Ceramics for additive manufacturing

Also last year, Technologiya developed a ceramic composite and a technology for manufacturing products from it. This material is used in the creation of components for equipment producing metal powders − the raw material for 3D printers. Products developed in Obninsk for high-temperature installations, such as ceramic nozzles for gas spraying of metal melts, bushings and crucible kits, have high wear resistance and heat resistance, withstand heating up to 1800 °C, and have high chemical resistance in metal melts. The products are not inferior to foreign analogues and can be adapted for any company's equipment. ONPP's production facilities make it possible to compensate for the shortage of components caused by sanctions. In the course of solving this problem, the company received nine patents for inventions.
