Commander-in-Chief Evmenov: The Prince Pozharsky submarine will strengthen the combat potential of the Russian Navy
MOSCOW, Feb 3 - RIA Novosti. The nuclear-powered submarine missile cruiser Prince Pozharsky will strengthen the combat potential of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.
He said this during the launching ceremony of this submarine, the fourth submarine of the Borey-A project, held at the Sevmash plant (Severodvinsk).
"The ceremony that we held today once again confirms the course towards strengthening and developing naval strategic nuclear forces, which we are steadily following in the name of ensuring the security of the state. The Russian Navy receives reliable and modern submarines, the design and construction of which took into account the challenges that characterize the situation in the oceans," the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation quotes Evmenov.
The Commander-in-chief stressed that "Prince Pozharsky" embodied the most advanced technological solutions, experience and traditions of domestic underwater shipbuilding.
"The cruiser clearly demonstrates the result of their most important work, which allows us to keep pace with the rapid development of scientific and technological progress and to be ahead of it in a number of areas," Evmenov noted.

He stressed that "the armament of the Knyaz Pozharsky APC, the technical characteristics of the cruiser will allow it to effectively perform all tasks for its intended purpose, the crew has undergone comprehensive training and will be proud to serve on this submarine."
After being withdrawn from the boathouse, the submarine will undergo factory sea trials and state tests, they will be provided by the ship's crew, the Sevmash delivery team, the military mission, the Belomorskaya Naval Base. After all the stages of testing, the date will be determined when the Prince Pozharsky agro-industrial complex will be accepted into the Russian Navy.
Like other ships of the 4th generation, the Prince Pozharsky submarine will form the basis of Russia's naval strategic nuclear forces for the coming decades.

Three Borey nuclear-powered submarines (Yuri Dolgoruky, Alexander Nevsky and Vladimir Monomakh) have been built and are serving in the Navy at Sevmash and four Borey-A submarines ("Prince Vladimir", "Prince Oleg", "Generalissimo Suvorov", "Emperor Alexander III"). The serial nuclear-powered submarines Dmitry Donskoy and Prince Potemkin are at different stages of construction.
Prince Pozharsky is the fourth serial submarine of the Borey-A project. The cruiser was laid down at JSC PO Sevmash on December 23, 2016. The designer of the APRK is the St. Petersburg Central Design Bureau of Marine Equipment "Rubin". The Prince Pozharsky submarine belongs to the fourth generation of nuclear-powered submarines. The agro-industrial complex is equipped with modern complexes of missile and torpedo weapons, navigation, radio engineering and sonar weapons.
