In 2024, the military industry will produce more than 36 thousand units of equipment and 16.5 million weapons
Thanks to the increased capabilities of the industry, high-precision strikes on Ukrainian facilities will become commonplace this year, experts interviewed by Izvestia said. The production of basic weapons and ammunition has increased significantly over the past year, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said. In 2024, the Russian Armed Forces will receive more than 36 thousand basic samples of military equipment, 16.5 million weapons of destruction. On January 26, on the single day of acceptance of military products, the department received the latest models of equipment, aircraft and helicopters. Izvestia studied the list.
Released in the series
On a single day of acceptance of military products, batches of serial samples of the latest armored vehicles were transferred to the military department.
Among them is the T—90M, the newest Russian tank, which proved itself well in a special military operation. His squatness makes him inconspicuous on the battlefield. The tank weighs 46 tons, while its Western counterparts weigh more than 60 tons, which affects their speed. The T-90 goes 30 km/h faster.
The military also received BTR-82A armored personnel carriers. Compared to previous modifications, this development has received an impressive arsenal: in addition to the machine gun, it is equipped with a 30 mm automatic cannon. The landing squad received eight seats with placement near the sides of the hull. Disembarkation is carried out through the aft swing door.

The industry has produced a batch of Tiger-M SpN armored vehicles for special purpose units. They are designed for reconnaissance, convoy escort and protection, patrolling, and fire support. The special forces vehicle differs from the usual versions by enhanced protection of the wheels, the front of the body, the windshield and modified doors.
The ZPRK "Patient-S1" was created specifically to protect Ground forces and industrial facilities. It can destroy aerial targets at an altitude of 5,000 to 15,000 m. It can also be used against enemy light armored vehicles.
In addition to the weapons systems of the Ground Forces, samples of aviation equipment have also been put into operation. Among them are Ka—52M reconnaissance attack helicopters, which have shown high efficiency during a special military operation, Mi-28NM combat helicopters, which are considered one of the most protected in the world, Su-30SM2 and Su-35S fighters, Su-34M fighters.
Not only production
It has become possible to significantly increase the production of basic weapons and ammunition due to the modernization and expansion of production enterprises of the defense industry, Sergei Shoigu said, summing up the results of 2023.

"This was facilitated by the expansion and modernization of production facilities, as well as an increase in labor productivity. New workshops, lines, and sections equipped with high—tech equipment have been put into operation at many enterprises," Sergei Shoigu said during a speech at the single day of acceptance of military products.
He added that the growth in defense production required attracting a large number of new qualified specialists, and in some cases switching to a round-the-clock work schedule.
According to the head of the military department, equipment and weapons of destruction arrive in a timely manner in the zone of a special military operation, increasing the combat capabilities of the troops.
"The well-established system of operational repair and maintenance of weapons and equipment in the field has significantly reduced the time for their restoration, thereby increasing readiness for intended use. The main task at the moment remains to provide each unit and each fighter with everything necessary for the successful completion of combat missions," the minister said.

In the first month of the year, the head of the Defense Ministry twice checked how Russian enterprises produce ammunition. On January 12, during the verification of the fulfillment of the state defense order at the enterprise of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation (KTRV), he set the task not only to increase the production of high-precision ammunition, but also to modernize them. According to him, it is necessary to transfer a separate line of ammunition from the category of conventional, which are available in sufficient quantities.
On January 18, Shoigu inspected the fulfillment of the state defense order at the Raduga ICD, which produces guided missile weapons. The general director of the enterprise, Sergey Bogatikov, reported that the volume of production of high-precision weapons after the start of the SVO was increased many times, according to some indicators, eight times.
— Now there are high—intensity battles, not only ammunition is being spent, but also military equipment, - military expert Alexander Perendzhiev told Izvestia. — It is not only damaged, but also wears out during combat operations, so we are talking not only about production, but also about the restoration system. Even when mobilization was underway, people were recruited not only to participate in combat operations, but also to increase the efficiency of the repair and restoration system and the military-industrial complex.
Almost one hundred percent
The defense industrial complex of the Russian Federation has fulfilled the plan to supply new equipment to Russian troops by 98.8%, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said on January 26. In 2023, the Russian army received more than 100 new and refurbished aircraft, 150 helicopters, 3.5 thousand drones, and the fleet received over 7.7 thousand units of weapons, including long-range sea-based cruise missiles "Zircon", "Caliber" and "Uranus".

According to Alexey Krivoruchko, this year the Russian Armed Forces will receive more than 36 thousand basic military equipment, 16.5 million weapons of destruction and over 1 million units of wearable weapons.
Over the past week, the Russian Armed Forces have carried out several strikes with precision weapons at the production sites of Ukrainian military equipment. Apparently, in the coming year such strikes will become an ordinary thing and will lead to a decrease in Ukraine's potential, military expert Viktor Murakhovsky told Izvestia.
— High—precision weapons are given special attention as part of solving the problem of counter-battery warfare and hitting targets in the depth of defense, - he said. — 16.5 million weapons of destruction have been delivered, the lion's share of them are shells. We spend 1 million of them per month. The increase in the state defense order will allow us to solve the tasks of our servicemen this year, solving the problem of combating FVP drones at the forefront to a depth of 7 km and in the surface air layer up to 500 m - now this task is facing.
