The UAE Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with the European company Milrem Robotics, providing for the purchase of two batches of combat unmanned ground platforms.
As indicated in the publication Tecnologia & Defesa, we are talking about the sale of 20 Type-X robotic combat vehicles and 40 THeMIS unmanned ground vehicles.
The Type-X is actually a robotic BMP. She is armed with a 30 mm MK44 cannon. Its dimensions are 600x290x220 cm, weight with a payload of 12 tons, maximum load capacity of 4.1 tons, maximum speed when driving on a road surface of 80 km/h.
The Type-X is positioned by the developer as a means of strengthening mechanized units. IFVs of this type should occupy the most dangerous positions without compromising traditional infantry fighting vehicles.
The equipment is controlled by the operator thanks to the situational awareness system with elements of mixed reality Vegvisir. Information about the surrounding environment is transmitted through a network of sensors, forming a virtual 360-degree dome. The survey is carried out at both close and medium distances.

The THeMIS machine, first tested in combat conditions in Mali, thanks to its open architecture, can perform both transport and other tasks, including combat. Its dimensions are 247x204x117 cm, weight is 1630 kg, maximum load capacity is 1.2 tons, maximum speed is 20 km/h.
The UAE-acquired THeMIS are designed to perform combat missions, being equipped with M230LF combat modules with a 30 mm cannon.
