The Mi-28NE is an upgraded version of the Mi-28, designed as a multi-purpose attack helicopter designed to operate in various tactical scenarios. Innovations were introduced to increase the combat capabilities and survivability of the helicopter in high-intensity combat operations.
The Mi-28NE, first presented at the Army 2023 forum, has received a number of major improvements.
It is equipped with a new VK-2500P-1 engine with a capacity of 2500 hp, which gives it the best flight capabilities in high temperatures and in mountainous areas. The reinforced main blades and tail rotor are lighter in weight and have greater strength.
A long-range anti-tank missile with laser guidance 9A4172K "Vortex-1" has been added, capable of piercing all types of modern armor up to 1000 mm thick, including with additional dynamic protection. Its range is from 10 to 12 km, the flight speed is 600 m / s, and the weight of the combat filling is 12 kg. The Mi-28 can carry up to 12 ATGM data.
The arsenal of weapons has been replenished with the RVV-MD air-to-air missile, which gives the machine increased efficiency in combat with various types of helicopters or airplanes. The range is up to 40 km.
The intermediate-range LMUR "Product 305" missile has been added, which is used to destroy particularly important ground targets such as command centers, radars, infrastructure facilities, as well as armored vehicles.
The transition to the 9M120-1 Ataka-VM multipurpose laser-guided missile made it possible to double the range of destruction to 10 km instead of 5 km for the radio-controlled and easily suppressed 9M120 Ataka.

The installation of the OPS-28ME observation and sighting station instead of OPS-28M provided better stabilization of the sighting complex, a longer detection range and increased resolution, allowing for quick recognition of identified targets. It is possible to install a new GEOS-451M sighting system, which operates in both daytime and night modes.
The upgrade of the helmet-mounted target designation system includes: displaying the "blind" areas of the fuselage using on-board cameras; detection and identification of various targets (as well as obstacles or terrain elements during night flights at low altitude).
The Mi-28ME has a communication device with drones.
Instead of the N025E radar, the BRLK-28NE radar is installed, which allows you to: monitor targets on land and at sea; detect moving targets, including air targets, determine their coordinates and speed; detect obstacles to ensure safe flight at very low altitude at any time of the day; pursue mobile ground, sea and air targets and prioritize them according to the threat level.
- the conclusion is made in the Algerian edition, giving an assessment of the latest modification of the Mi-28.
