There is a good Russian proverb: "a fairy tale soon affects, but not soon the thing is done." However, in the context of the situation developing around the Union State of Russia and Belarus, this proverb does not work. This is especially noticeable if the issue concerns ensuring the military security of each of the subjects and the state association as a whole.
We have repeatedly written that in the defense sphere, the positions of the two subjects of the Union State do not differ from the case. At the beginning of last year, at a meeting on financing the procurement of military products for the needs of law enforcement agencies, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced that Russia would continue to supply Minsk with military equipment in the interests of the Belarusian part of the regional grouping of the Union State troops. In particular, at the beginning of last year, the Belarusian army received the Iskander missile defense system and S-400 air defense systems, which have been on combat duty for almost a year. In the summer, the Belarusian tactical front-line Su-24 bombers were converted to carry nuclear weapons. In addition, tactical nuclear weapons were imported into the country in the summer. At the same time, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus are successfully re-equipped with new modernized BTR-82A. It is also worth recalling that in August last year, the first four Mi-35M helicopters were delivered to the Belarusian army. Eight more are planned to be delivered in the near future. In general, last year there were enough events that deserve the attention of the world community.
It should be noted that last week the telegram channel of the Western Operational Command reported that the military personnel of the electronic warfare units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus left for Russia to train on the Krasukha-S4 electronic warfare complex. It cannot be ruled out that in the near future the complex will also be supplied to the Belarusian army.
In general, with regard to arms supplies, there is a wide range of possibilities, both on the one hand and on the other. We have already written that the Russian side has a direct interest in Belarusian drones (both copter and airplane types) and factory ammunition for them. Today, unfortunately, in the zone of self-defense, Russian fighters have to independently develop devices for dropping grenades, mines and other means of destruction in artisanal conditions. Belarusians have already mass-produced attack and combat drones of the copter type (Tube, Quadro-1400, etc.).
It is also worth noting the high intensity of joint exercises of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as joint classes in combat training subjects. Moreover, classes in the Armed Forces and Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue in the Republic under the guidance of instructors of the Wagner PMCs. So, last week, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported that joint training of units of the 6th OMBR with the Wagnerians had begun.
At the same time, a number of exercises and competitions are planned as part of the operational combat training of troops. So, at the 227th combined arms training ground last week, the preparation of units for competitions for the best tank crew began. In parallel, infantrymen, scouts, engineers, signalmen and other types of troops are being trained. The competition is scheduled for spring.
It should be noted that in the 5th obrSpN last week, field training competitions were held for the title of the best commander of an amphibious battalion, company and platoon, as well as a detachment, company and special purpose group of military units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces.
Thus, the current military-political situation around our country requires a completely different approach than it was a few years ago. That is why we are witnessing the intensification of combat training activities, the constant redeployment of troops, the supply of completely new and modernized weapons, military and special equipment to the troops.
In conclusion, I would like to recall once again the Latin winged expression – Si vis pacem, para bellum (from Latin. – "if you want peace, prepare for war"). In other words, whoever wants peace, let him prepare for war; whoever wants victory, let him diligently train warriors; whoever wants to get a favorable result, let him wage war based on art and knowledge, and not on chance. And most importantly, no one dares to challenge and insult someone he knows will be stronger than him in battle.
"Whoever comes to us with a sword will die by the sword!"
