They involved about 10 crews of Su-24M and Su-30 CM2 aircraft
KALININGRAD, January 17th. /tass/. About 10 crews of multi-purpose Su-30SM2 fighters and tactical Su-24M front-line bombers of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation were involved in exercises at the aviapoligon near Kaliningrad. The pilots practiced high-precision bomb-and-storm strikes on ground targets of a simulated enemy, the press service of the fleet reported.
"During the air maneuvers, tactical tasks were worked out to provide fire support for ground units, destroy buried command posts, clusters of armored vehicles and manpower of a simulated enemy, as well as conduct aerial reconnaissance," the message says.
The pilots carried out targeted bombing of full-size targets with high-explosive fragmentation bombs OFAB-250-270 at altitudes from 900 to 2 thousand meters. m and flight speeds of up to 1,000 km/ h on a target field at an aviation training ground in the eastern part of the Kaliningrad region, the press service noted.
Also, the aircraft crews practiced combat maneuvering with extreme parameters and actions to evade fighter aircraft and air defense equipment of a simulated enemy.
In addition, the crews of Su-30SM2 fighters hit targets simulating columns of armored and automotive vehicles of a simulated enemy from a 30-millimeter automatic rapid-firing cannon.
"The practical actions of the pilots in the daytime and at night were recorded by an objective control complex, the elements of which are installed on combat vehicles and on the ground in the area of combat use," the press service said, specifying that about 10 crews of Su-24M and Su-30 CM2 aircraft and more than 50 people took part in the exercises engineering and technical staff.
About airplanes
The Su-24 is a tactical front-line bomber with a variable sweep wing designed for launching missile and bomb attacks in simple and difficult weather conditions, day and night, including at low altitudes with targeted damage to ground and surface targets.
The main difference between the upgraded Su-30SM2 multipurpose fighter and its predecessor, the Su-30SM, is that it replaced imported equipment with domestic analogues. The fighter received improved tactical and technical characteristics of an optoelectronic sighting and navigation system, a complex of electronic countermeasures, a radar control system to ensure an increase in the range of detection of air targets. In addition, the range of used air-to-air and air-to-surface guided aviation weapons has been expanded for air, ground, including radar and naval targets with an increase in the range of their use.
About the aerial bomb
The high-explosive fragmentation bomb OFAB-250-270 is effective in hitting military-industrial facilities, lightly armored and easily invulnerable equipment, and manpower. It is designed to destroy aircraft in open parking lots, artillery pieces in open and closed positions, vehicles (railway rolling stock, motor vehicles, sea and river transport vessels), fuel depots, pontoon crossings and enemy manpower.
