It is no secret that the exact quantitative and qualitative composition of the aviation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is classified information. However, we consider it important today to talk about the condition of the military airfields of the Far East against the background of the deployment of American troops in Finland, in particular, considering the transfer of nuclear weapons carriers – F-35 fighters.
According to official information alone, about 64 such fighters will be deployed at the Air Force base in Lapland, near the city of Rovaniemi by 2026.
We emphasize that at least 9 military and joint-based airfields are known to have been decommissioned in the regions bordering Finland, the runways have been dismantled, or the airfields have been transferred to the reserve and transferred to the commandant's office.
In our next article, for comparison, we will look at the airfield network of Finland.
