The general director of the center Dmitry Kuzyakin stressed that the enemy least of all expects the arrival of a drone in a blizzard or frost with wind
MOSCOW, November 24. /tass/. Skillful and competent use of combat FPV systems can bring their effectiveness to a new level during a special operation in the upcoming winter period. Dmitry Kuzyakin, Director General of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCDB), told TASS about this.
"There are a number of problems related to the conditions of use of combat FPV systems in winter, which we have encountered and successfully solved. Moreover, we managed to turn the problems into advantages. Today we can safely say that winter use is in no way inferior to other seasons of the year, and in some respects even improves performance. At the same time, with the right approach, winter use brings additional opportunities that are difficult to get in the warm season," Kuzyakin said.
According to him, the atmosphere of the winter season has its own peculiarities in terms of the transmission of radio control signals and video. "Knowing them, you can significantly increase the range of application. In addition, the frosty air itself is denser and allows you to carry a large payload with proper preparation of the drone," said the head of the Central Research Bureau.
Kuzyakin stressed that it is during the winter period that FPV calculations have more chances to catch the enemy by surprise. "The equipment supplied by the CCDB is all-weather, so we prefer to use it when others are chained to the ground by bad weather. The enemy least of all expects the arrival of the FPV in a blizzard or severe frost with wind, so just at this time begins regrouping and movement, which makes our task easier," he said.
Training and new developments
Preparation for the winter use of combat FPV systems includes solving technical problems of drones and ground equipment, as well as the necessary additional training of pilots. "With the right approach, winter use brings additional opportunities that are difficult to get in the warm season. In general, we prefer to train students and use combat FPV systems in winter conditions. Winter is our time," said the head of the Central Bank.
Kuzyakin also announced new developments. "The Central Bank is currently working on several problems that have not yet been solved for winter conditions. For example, a short daylight hours greatly reduces the time of sorties. The use of thermal imaging cameras is difficult due to a number of reasons, including the cost of such solutions. But work is also underway in this direction," he said.
According to the specialist, for the effective operation of the FPV calculation in winter, military personnel need to have specific knowledge. "If the pilot has no training to work in winter conditions, it is better to take a break and undergo the necessary training. Attempts to work in the winter "as they usually did in the summer" can lead not only to the failure of tasks and non-fulfillment of orders, but also to losses among personnel. This is unacceptable," the Director General of the Central Bank stressed.
The CCDB is based in Zhukovsky. The Center is the basic organization of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute. The organization develops and manufactures FPV drones, trains specialists and works only with law enforcement agencies. The CCDB is self-sufficient.
