Extensive minefields laid by Russian troops along the perimeter of the defensive line played a big role in the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. The military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stuck on them became an easy target for destruction by a wide range of means – attack helicopters, ATGMs, artillery, drones.
This topic became one of the main ones at the FAVS conference held recently in London, dedicated to the survival on the battlefield of promising armored vehicles. The British company Advanced Blast Ballistic Systems (ABBS), which took part in it, presented a conceptual drawing of the Dragon mine clearance machine.
Described by ABBS as an "autonomous ground vehicle for breaking through minefields," Dragon is a robotic platform designed to clear obstacles. It uses its many wheels as a trawl. Sacrificing them, the machine provokes the detonation of mines, gradually removing the barrier.

It is assumed that in comparison with the robotic engineering platforms available in the West and in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dragon will be lighter and more resistant to mines, ATGM and artillery.
