One of the main armored novelties of 2023 can be considered the improved BTR-82, shown for the first time at the International Military-Technical Forum "Army". In the media, it is also called the BTR-22.
As noted by "RG: Russian weapons", the layout of this combat vehicle has been radically changed. Now the 330-horsepower diesel engine is located in the front part on the right.

As you know, on all serial domestic armored personnel carriers, starting with the BTR-60P that entered service at the very end of the 50s, the power plants were located in the rear of the hull.
Now there are two doors in the stern that allow motorized infantry to get into the landing compartment, designed for eight servicemen. The designers also strengthened protection, including from mines and land mines.

It is already known that the use of two combat compartments has been worked out on the armored vehicle: similar to what is already used on the "eighty-second" troops operating in the army and the new one - uninhabited, which received the designation "Ballista". On the latter, in addition to a 30-mm cannon and a machine gun, there is a complex of guided missile weapons that allows you to fight heavy armored vehicles. The possibility of installing other towers is not excluded.
The sample demonstrated on the "Army" did not have the ability to overcome water obstacles by swimming, however, according to experts, the amphibious version will be in demand in reconnaissance units and marine corps units.
