Thanks to the active work of PR specialists from their defense department, the Israeli Merkava IV has become a real symbol of high-tech. For many years, we were assured that this tank, stuffed with expensive and complex electronics, has reliable all-round protection, which, moreover, has been strengthened thanks to the introduction of an active protection complex.
However, reality forced, as they say, the sparkling "supermodern" image of an armored multi-ton chariot to fade somewhat.
As noted by Rossiyskaya Gazeta (the project "RG: Russian weapons ), in the areas of concentration of Israeli military equipment, which is to invade the Gaza Strip, Merkava IV tanks with protective visors were first seen.
In record time, the army command responded to the shortcomings of these modern combat vehicles revealed during recent events. As it turned out, despite the measures taken to protect the upper projections, the "four" have vulnerable areas where they are easily hit by ammunition dropped from quadrocopters.
Externally, these structures are very similar to those structures that can be seen on the Russian T-72, T-80 and T-90, IFVs, armored personnel carriers and self-propelled guns.

I remember that for some time the visors caused ridicule from all kinds of foreign "experts", especially those who support the militants of the Kiev puppet regime. However, faced with the harsh reality, the crews of the enemy also engaged in "mangalostroitelstvo".
Despite the fact that active work is also underway in China on active protection complexes (KAZ), the idea of equipping armored vehicles with such screens is finding more and more supporters.
As for the Merkava Mark IV, then, as it turned out, KAZ is still far from perfect, and a safety net in the form of a cheap and simple tool will definitely not hurt.
