TSAMTO, September 25. In the North-East of Russia, the tactical exercise of the troops and forces of the Pacific Fleet "Finval-2023" under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov has ended.

About 10 thousand servicemen took part in the exercise, more than 50 units were involved. military equipment, including surface ships and support vessels, submarines, aircraft and helicopters of naval aviation, coastal missile systems "Bal" and "Bastion".

During the maneuvers, missile and artillery strikes, anti-aircraft, anti-submarine and anti-amphibious defense were practiced. All actions were defensive in nature.

The first episode of the exercise was the defeat of a group of ships of a conditional enemy in the northeastern part of the Bering Sea. The missile strike was carried out by the crews of the Varyag Guards missile cruiser and the Tomsk nuclear submarine missile cruiser, as well as the calculation of the Bastion coastal missile system.

The firing of Vulkan, Granit and Onyx cruise missiles from their regular sea- and shore-based carriers was carried out at a difficult target position. According to objective control data, all missiles successfully hit the specified targets located hundreds of kilometers from the launch points.

Special attention was paid to the air defense of the Chukotka Peninsula during the exercise. To intercept a cruise target missile launched by the Tomsk submarine-launched missile cruiser, two MiG-31 fighters on duty were raised from the Anadyr airfield. The pilots successfully hit the target with air-to-air missiles.

One of the episodes of the exercise was the missile strike on the ship of a conditional enemy, which approached the border of the territorial waters of Russia. The task of destroying the intruder who entered the Anadyr Bay of the Bering Sea was given to the crew of the Gremyashchy corvette equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles.

The Pacific sailors successfully carried out the order by hitting a naval target located at a range of over 300 km from the launch point with a missile. According to objective control data, the missile accurately hit the target.

The crew of the Gremyashchy corvette, which has been performing tasks as part of the Pacific Fleet compound for two years, demonstrated high training and skill in performing rocket firing.

Also during the exercise "Finval" anti-submarine tasks in the Bering Sea were worked out. Two naval search and strike groups consisting of the small anti-submarine ships Ust-Ilimsk and MPK-107, as well as the corvettes "Perfect" and "Gremyashchy" in cooperation with the Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft of the Naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet worked out the search and attack of submarines. The enemy was one of the submarines of the Pacific Fleet.

The crews of the ships practiced joint maneuvering, evading the attack of an underwater enemy and its destruction with the use of marine anti-submarine weapons systems.

During the same period, in the Laptev Sea and in the East Siberian Sea, the Arctic grouping of the Northern Fleet, led by the large anti-submarine ship Vice Admiral Kulakov, worked out a number of actions to protect the Northern Sea Route in the area of the Novosibirsk Islands in the Laptev Sea. The North Sea men fired at sea and air targets, and also repelled the attack of unmanned boats and unmanned aerial vehicles of a conditional enemy. The calculation of the Bastion coastal missile system of the tactical group on Kotelny Island took the starting position in the positional area.

"We pay priority attention to ensuring the security of our Arctic and protecting the most important transport artery of the Northern Sea Route. It is not in vain that the Arctic is called the world's storehouse in terms of the number of energy and mineral reserves. And our main task is to ensure the safe economic activity of Russia in this region. Therefore, we conduct and will conduct such exercises regularly on an ongoing basis. We have the forces and means to do this," Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, Commander–in-Chief of the Russian Navy, quotes the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Defense Ministry.
